SEASON 2011-12

03/09/11 Home        The Beeches 5 Ashton Keynes Res 1

After a slow start Beeches soon got into there stride and were to dominate proceedings for the remainder of the match.

The opening goal came after good two touch football created the chance for Lee Rhodes to score from the edge of the penalty area, hitting a crisp strike that found the bottom corner

Matt Fletcher then continued in the same goal scoring vain of of last season, meeting a cross he some how manged to score with the deafest of flicks, scoring with a great touch between his legs

Fletcher then added his second and the teams third after good work from Coleman and Rhodes produced the quality cross for Matty to head home via the defender on the line who attempted to intercept the header

Half time 3-0

The second half saw Ashton reduce the score to 3-1 when they scored from the spot, young Joshua Cox making his debut made a great save, only for the penalty to be retaken and scored.

Skipper Garvey then collected the ball and carried it forward in a driving run, which resulted in unleashing a great strike from 20 yards, finding the top corner to make it 4-1

Mike Eagles rounded off a good team performance by scoring a good goal created by good team work ten minutes from time, giving Beeches the start to the season that there performance deserved.

SEASON 2010-11

04/09/10  Home v CHQ United

The Beeches 2 CHQ United 2

The first game of the season was against a strong CHQ United team and the game produced moments of good football from both teams. But in general chances were far between as both defenses were in good order

The first half Beeches played the better football and created a few openings with out really testing Walton in their opponents goal. Against the run of play  CHQ opened the scoring direct from the corner kick. Matty Townsend producing a lovely in swinging corner that was to find the perfect finish in the top of the far post net. The ball sailing over keeper Warriner & Gudger on the back post.

In between this incident CHQ United lost their first player when one of their subs was dismissed from the sidelines for swearing.

Beeches kept playing their football and had a couple of free kick situations on the edge of CHQ box. Gudger shot just over the bar while Robinson couldn't work the keeper. Central defender Simon King's downward header beat everyone but the bounce saw his header hit the bar and bounce to safety.

Graham Robinson then beat Andy Eaton for pace and got goal side of him only to be brought down from behind. Referee Brian Woodcocok with a clear view should have given the spot kick.

The second half neither side got going but a terrible error between defender & keeper gifted CHQ a two nil lead. A harmless through ball on the edge of the box saw keeper Warriner look to clear , but the enthusiastic full-back Lee Rhodes also tried to clear and the keeper clearance hit Rhodes. This gifted striker Fabien Daniels an open goal which resulted in a simple finish.

Beeches then introduced some fresh legs and it was the substitutes that were to figure in the great escape. First Charlie Ingham broke free on the right wing and produced the perfect cross and the finish equally as good as a great diving header from Darren Hendon saw Hendon glance  home from 12 yards with the perfect finish giving keeper Walton no chance.

The dying minutes produced an all action finish when the referee took centre stage. With Beeches throwing caution to the wind Robinson was pulled back and awarded a penalty. For the next few minutes it was mayhem as the central defender was dismissed for a second bookable offense, as he was leaving the field of play he attempted to head butt a Beeches player.

Mean while Chris Robinson had stepped up to take the spot kick with barely two minutes left on the clock. After the commotion had settled Robinson struck his penalty well only to see the out stretched hand of Walton produce a great save to the bottom left hand corner, turning the ball away for a corner.

After the penalty save two more CHQ players were dismissed for arguing with the ref leaving CHQ with 8 men to defend what was possible the last kick of the match

With barely time to take the corner Beeches threw everyone forward including keeper Warriner. From the corner the ball broke free after being blocked on the line only to fall to sub Craig Hewett making his debut for the club. Hewett's shot was hit into the ground and the ball bounced over Legg on the CHQ goal line to nettle in the back of the net

On play Beeches deserved at least a draw but need to make sure errors are ironed out

The Beeches man of the match : Pete Sykes ( central defender always in total command of the situation )

11/09/10 Home v South Cerney

Manager Jamie Want selection problems continued this weekend with the latest injury Mark Warriner who has now joined Jody Lawrence & Graham Robinson on the clubs injury list.

With Daren Henden & Charlie Ingham both away sunning themselves and Pete Sykes away also and Kanne Outram still on his course the squad is now being stretched to breaking point

Their visitors Cerney were to get off to the best possible start scoring inside the opening minute. Robbo having to done the gloves missed timed a cross, only to see him push the ball onto the cross bar and the ball to fall to Loxton to score.

It became 2-0 when again Robbo totally misjudged the flight of the ball and his attempted punch left the ball free to run into the unguarded net. Proving it can happen to the best

In between times Kevin O'Malley had to be withdrawn when he injured his groin leaving Mike Eagles having to drop back into the back four and Daniel Skudlarz to come on to play middle of the park along side Garvey.

Just before half time Beeches should have made it 2-1 when O'Neill beat everyone including the keeper only to see his great lob bounce to high and hit the bar and fall safe.

The second period Beeches played all the football while Cerney continued in the same vain pumping the long ball forward hoping to gain on another mistake. They did however score a good third goal when Lawrence broke forward to find the deafest of lobs to score.

3-0 Beeches showed real character and pressed forward creating chances and it was skipper Simon King who latched onto a good cross, took the ball in his stride and finish brilliantly

The last 15 minutes both cross bar and post was hit as Beeches tried desperately to reduce the score. First Stuart Robinson rattled the bar then Craig Hewett struck the post

In the end a spirited reply that deserved more.

However silly mistakes must be corrected and chances taken next week in order to kick start the season.

Next Saturday Beeches entertain Oaksey kick off 2-30 p.m.

18/09/10 home v Oaksey

The Beeches 2 Oaksey 2

This was a game that lacked any quality and was more about getting stuck in than playing good football, the first half apart from the opening seconds produced little or no excitement

Oaksey got off to a bright start scoring inside 10 seconds, Straight for the kick off the ball was played forward and crossed to Wayne Buckland unmarked and from 6 yards had the easiest of tasks to make it 1-0

The rest of the half neither keeper had a shot to deal with and this resulted in a 1-0 half time score line

The second half did produce some goals but very little football, Beeches players seemed at loggerheads at the back where the two central defenders KIng & Sykes were always on one on one situations because neither full-back Rhodes or Hughes tucked into help out.

In mid-field Mark Stephens helped out because of the injury crisis but although his effort was good he just lacked that extra yard of pace, his partner Mike Eagles continued to battle but the team lacked someone with football quality to control the game from the middle of the park

With Gudger in his lazy mood and not tracking back Hughes in his first match had little or no cover. Skudlarz more adapt in the central role behind the striker never saw any service while the two strikers O'Neill & Robinson were isolated up front because not one of them dropped back into into the space provided in mid-field

With little or no encouragement or leadership coming from the players it needed a wonder goal to wake the home side up and it came from the boot of Gudger. A free kick 25 yards out was taken and Gudger hit an unstoppable effort high into the angle of the goal with such a force that the ball was past the Oaksey keeper in a flash and bounced back into play off the net.

This did give the home side some rare encouragement to attack, Robinson soon became lively and threatening while O'Neill was guilty twice of dwelling on the ball when he had two good chances to shoot.

Robinson soon made it 2-1 when his strength took him past his marker to score at the angle at the near post from 12 yards.

Instead of the team waking up they immediately went back into a slumber and the signs were poor when Oaskey began to get behind there markers. In stead of sweeping and covering behind each other Beeches defense became open and square and started to gift Oaksey easy options to score

This was the first time in a long time that Sykes and King looked shaky, only because they normally are not so square and cover is always there, O'Malley missing through injury proved how valuable a player he is to the team

Oaksey were soon level when a harmless through ball was not dealt with, the ball traveled through the middle of the defense and through to keeper Robinson , central defender King was adjudged to have pushed someone. From the spot Lockyear leveled .

One bright spark was the sub Craig Hewett who at least showed desire and comitement and willingness to run, attributes all players should have if they want to be successful

If Beeches are to return to the level they found themselves in last season they must learn to fight and work for each other and be organized.

The Beeches man of the match : Tireless Mike Eagles

02/10/10 Away Oaksey

Oaskey 3 The Beeches 0

After such a promising finish to the season last year Beeches really thought they would be amongst the front runners this season but injuries have left new manager Jamie Want with a real headache. While other players have been crying off late leaving the team depleted and players with little experience have had to play

This game was no different in came Tom Burgess in goal, Sam Clarke up front, while young sixteen year old Matt Fletcher made his debut from the bench and turned out to be a real glimmering light for the future

Within ten minutes the hard working Mike Eagles hit a shot from 30 yards which the Oaksey keeper saved well. Daniel Skudlarz was linking well with Eagles and Outram and it was Skudlarz who went close when his good effort went just over the bar

Beeches injury problems continued when Skudlarz took a knock, he tried to run it off but was forced to come off with Charlie Ingham replacing him

Oaksey as in their previous encounter a fortnight ago worked really hard for each other and they were rewarded through a great strike after 25 minutes, finding the bottom corner of the net

1-0 half time

With Clarke going off injured young Matt Fletcher made his debut up front and immediately made an impact with his closing down and work rate putting the Oaksey defense under pressure

Beeches looked dangerous on the edge of the box but couldn't find the back of the net, Oaksey were always looking dangerous on the break and made it 2-0 when Reserve keeper Burgess seemed to have the ball covered only for the ball to slip out of his hands and into the back of the net.

Beeches refused to give up and Matt Fletcher was put through on goal with a one on one with the keeper who brought Fletcher down only for the penalty appeal to be waved away by referee Fortune

Oaksey made it 3-0 from a free kick from 18 yards, finding the right hand corner

If things are to improve players must start to make themselves available to play every week while hopefully the injured players will return as soon as possible.

The Beeches man of the match : Mike Eagles

16/10/10  Home The Beeches v Bibury  ( Arthur Shipway cup )

The Beeches 0 Bibury 5    ( still awaiting match report )

23/10/10  Away Avonvale United v The Beeches

Avonvale united 1 The Beeches 0

For some reason this season some players have let the team down and suddenly stopped playing with out any explanation making the job of new manager Jamie Want even more difficult with the the list of injuries making it hard for the team to challenge

But fair play to the manager he has got on with the challenge and can be proud of all the lads who really deserved allot more than they got

Unbeaten Avonvale can count there chickens and know that they could easily have been beaten. With the small figure of Gudger playing the lone striker and the midfield of Outram, Garvey & Hendon winning most of the battles in the middle of the park Beeches played well

Also having the return of Lawrence out wide caused huge problems for Avonvale's full back.

Beeches were again to suffer another injury after only 20 minutes as Dave Hughes was forced to retire injured. Charlie Ingham came on and done a great job filling in at full back.

Through out the game Beeches looked threatening and were to be denied by the wood work twice

Ten minutes before the end Avonvale struck, with Jamie Curtis again performing well in goal  he was so unlucky to see a great shot well saved, but the parry fell to an Avonvale striker to tap home

Credit to the lads Beeches who threw everything at Avonvale in the last 10 minutes and But for an outstanding last ditch save from Garvey Avonvale would have at least have dropped there first points of the season

A special mention to young Rob Mant who made his first team debut from the bench after coming through the ranks of the youth team now managed by Wanty

The Beeches man of the match ; Danny Gudger

30/10/10      Real Fairford 1 The Beeches 2

After playing really well the week before against top of the table Avonvale and not getting anything out of the game the players knew they had to start well and carry the form of last weeks match into this one.

Beeches started well and looked the stronger side and immediately put Real under pressure. But it was Real who nearly took the lead but for a fine save from Mark Stephens who is easily the best keeper around but has spent the last two seasons playing out field.

Skipper Hendon nearly scored at the other end when he hit a great volley from outside the box producing a good save from the Real keeper.

Half Time 0-0

The second half started again with Beeches pressing for the opener and they were to go close several times. The opening goal came from the inform Danny Gudger after a good sharp passing move set up the Gudge to score.

1-0 Beeches seemed to take the foot of the gas and Real began to come into the game much more. It was from a ball delivered into the Beeches penalty area that Real struck when Beeches defense struggled to clear the danger it was the alert Real striker that found the bottom corner of the net

This spurred Beeches on and they pressed hard for a second goal and were rewarded after a ball was fizzed into the box and the ever alert Daniel Skudlarz back from injury got an outstretched leg to the ball and guided it home to make it 2-1

Beeches then introduced there two young subs Mant & Fletcher

Fairford to there credit kept going and forced a number of corner kicks but Beeches defended stoutly and also broke well on the counter attack

It was Beeches who were to finish well and but for the refs final whistle the score line would have read 3-1

With Matty Fletcher through on goal he struck his shot past the keeper and just before it hit the back of the net the ref blew and disallowed the goal because time was up.

06/11/10   County cup round 2

The Beeches 2 Berkerely Town Res 3

This game was a lesson in who wants to win most as Berkerely Town players showed much more desire in a second half come back

Beeches had strolled into a 2-0 lead by half time with out coming out of second gear and were guilty of not seeing the job through allowing Berkerely Town to progress to the next round

Jody Lawrence was open his account for the season with a good finish from 18 yards after Gudger had put him through. It was not long before the second goal came from Kanne Outram with another good strike

It was evident that some payers thought the job was done by half time and the second half saw Berkerly Town come out with the never say die attitude that wins football matches

There were good performances from Pete Sykes and Josh Cuss at the back but even there efforts could not stop Berkerely scoring three second half goals

Darren Hendon & Martin Garvey went close while Daniel Skudlarz saw his effort in the dying minutes hit the bar

This coming week the team play Stratton United in the local derby and team manager Jamie Want will be looking for his players to show the same attitude and desire they did a fortnight ago against title contenders Avonvale

20/11/10

The Beeches 1 Bibury 6

The first half of this division one game saw the home team take the contest to the top of the table Bibury

Bibury were put under pressure and against the run of play took the lead when there central defender found himself unmarked six yards out to score with a header

Beeches responded well and played some great football before they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. Up stepped Jody Lawrence to score with an unstoppable effort that found the top corner of the Bibury net

Bibury were to take the lead just before half time

The second half although Beeches battled well they seemed to run out of steam and were unable to press the game like they had done in the first period. An in form Bibury team took full advantage of the situation rattling in four more goals to make the final score line rather more flattering than perhaps deserved

08/01/11    SOUTH CERNEY 1 THE BEECHES 1

After several weeks of Snow and ice Beeches finally got to play a game against local rivals South Cerney. Beeches got of to a slow start and were to fall behind after 10 minutes when Dan Wignall scored.

This brought about a good response and was the kick up the back side needed and for the rest of the match they took the game to Cerney and begun to create some good chances. Jason Long in the Cerney goal was in fine form saving well from Graham Robinson.

One nil down Danny Gudger entered the game after returning from a long lay off, due to an unforeseen incident in which Danny broke his knuckle. With the Christmas turkey and bad weather taking it's toll on the home side Beeches pressed for the equaliser and it came from another player who had been sidelined through injury, Daniel Skudlarz finding the space to fire home to earn a well earned point

Men of the match : The whole team

12/03/1   OAKSEY 2 THE BEECHES 2  ( Senior Charities ) league

The Beeches hopes of qualifying from the group stage of the cup were dealt a late blow as Oaksey twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw.

Oaksey had the better of the opening exchanges but it was the away team that struck first on 10 minutes when Jody Lawrence broke the Oaksey backline, latching onto a perfectly weighted Martin Garvey pass before lashing the ball past the Oaksey keeper giving him no chance as the ball nestled high into the roof of the Oaksey net making that his 3rd goal in the last two starts.

The Beeches had the better of the rest of the half with the movement of their strikers causing the Oaksey defence plenty of problems. The midfield 3 of Skudlarz, Outram and Henden were instrumental in driving the Beeches forward and the defence reducing the Oaksey attackers to very little in the way of chances.

Despite being the better side they couldn't extend there lead, a curled effort from Henden was the closest they could muster.

Oaksey to there credit came out a different team in the second half and deservedly equalised on the hour mark when a scramble in the box was eventually turned past Mark Stephens  in goal and went in off the post.

Beeches responded well and regained the lead a few minutes later when a lovely ball over the top from Outram picked out the run of the impressive Lee Rhodes who cleverly lobbed the ball over the keeper. The lead was nearly extended when Garvey rattled the ball against the post after brilliantly hold up play in the box.

This would have killed the game off and gain the win The Beeches probably deserved, but the gutsy Oaksey side never gave in and the equaliser came with barley a couple minutes to go. Beeches defence who had played well were caught backing off and allowed the Oaksey striker time to dribble his way into the box before poking the ball past Stephens to earn a share of the points

19/03/11   THE BEECHES 4 REAL FAIRFORD 1

The Beeches ended a disappointing league campaign with a 4-1 victory to bottom side Real Fairford on Saturday. Beeches started much the better team and deservedly took the lead on 15 minutes when good build up play down the left from Matt Fletcher found Jody Lawrence resulted in Lawrence beating the right back and crossing to Garvey, who flicked the ball back to Fletcher to tap in from 6 yards.

Beeches carried on with their domination with the midfield 3 again getting the better of their counterparts allowing Beeches to control the game. This continue good football was rewarded on the half hour when skipper Darren Henden nodded in an excellent Fletcher cross to make it 2-0.

Five minutes later the game was as good as over when Garvey sent a 40 yard cross for Fletcher to expertly head past the keeper for his second and Beeches third. This was the score line at Half time and this pattern of play continued for the start of the second period before Real Fairford began to work their way back into the game by having a lot more possession before the game was well and truly killed off by the hard working Garvey when Gudger's free kick from the left was headed back across the goal by Simon King and Garvey stooped on the line to head home a well deserved goal.

However, Fairford never stopped trying and their efforts were rewarded as they got a consolation goal when a cross from the right went all the way across the goal and was tapped in at the far post. Beeches end their season this Saturday with a cup game against South Cerney

The Beeches 4   Down Ampney 4

The Beeches hosted Down Ampney for the 1st league game of the season. with the beeches re-building and forming old and new players together, they havent set high targets this year.

The game started at a high pace with The Beeches on top from the start, 1st half goals from Jamie Want(2) and Ian King gave The Beeches a 3-0 half time lead. The second half was a different game, and Ampney scored early to give themselves hope. With The Beeches getting tired and the referee losing control of the tackles flying in, Down Ampney managed to come back to 3-3. The Beeches then showed some great spirit by getting a 4th goal scored by Jamie Want to get his 1st Hat-trick of the new season. With 5mins of the game left the win looked theirs, only for Ampney to score with virtually the last kick of the game. A steady start for The Beeches, one that they can build on when they host Ashton Keynes on matchday 2.

26/9/09  Home V Avonvale Utd

The Beeches 1 Avonvale Utd 8

This was the first time for many a season that a Beeches team with less than half an hour left on the clock and looking good for a 1-1 draw. Top of the table Avonvale were to pull The Beeches apart. For a good hour there was nothing between the two sides and after Daniel Skudlarz had equalised it was game on. A long range effort put Avonvale a head, Players seemed unwilling to work and cover for each other allowing Vale to score at will. This performance is one manager Nick Baker will hope to correct immedialtely before the team play their county cup tie against Real Fairford next weekend.

3/10/09 Home V Real Fairford

THE BEECHES 4 REAL FAIRFORD 1 ( county cup )

After a disappointing result the week before the players seemed more determined to get a result. And with in half an hour they were to lead by three goals to nil. Playing with the strong wind the opening goal came from skipper Mark Warriner who's 60 yard free kick flew into the top corner of the Real Fairford's net giving Denness little chance.

Ian King back from his short stay at university then got in on the act scoring twice. His first goal came from a direct free kick which beat Denness low to his right hand post. His brace was completed after a good build up down the right saw him score from close range.

Three nil up and in cruise control Beeches got sloppy and conceded a poor goal after a back pass from Paul Horton was misjudged by keeper Nick Baker leaving Tim King a simple tap in. The second half The Beeches coped with the strong wind better than there opponents and defended well. Man of the match Daniel Skudlarz made sure of the victory when he raced clear and calmly stroked the ball past the on coming keeper

10/10/09  Home V South Cerney

The Beeches 2 South Cerney 2

This game was decided on a dodgy decison by the referee who was tricked into sending off Simon King, The Beeches central defender was dismissed after a clash with Clive Messenger. Beeches had lead the contest 1-0 through a Kanne Outram goal. The goal came following a good move ending in the final pass from Newman being put into the net at the back stick. Dan Risby added a second from the penalty spot to make it 2-0. But with the home side down to ten men for an hour of the match Cerney clawed there way back to earn a point

17/10/09    Awaiting Report

31/10/09 Home V Poulton

THE BEECHES 3   POULTON 0

This was a well deserved victory for The Beeches after some very below par performances this season. Playing with a near full strength team does make a huge difference to any side. Beeches created far the better chances through out this match and should have won by a wider margin.

After a period of pressure Ian King was brought down on the edge of the Poulton penalty area and from the resulting freekick, Jody Lawrence was to produce a sweet strike into the top corner to give The Beeches the lead.

Beeches continued to press and could have lead by an even bigger score line by half time

The second half was much the same with Beeches pressing but Poluton were always still in with a chance until 15 minutes before the end Jodie Lawrence added a deserved second. Poulton to there credit still kept going but Kevin O'Malley was to make it 3-0 after his shot was deflected pass the Poulton keeper in the 87 minute to give Beeches three much needed points

21/11/09  Home V Kingshill Sports

The Beeches 1  Kingshill Sports 2

This season is quickly turning into a very disappointing one result wise, at present the players are in a real dog fight not to be relegated. The result however Saturday certainly did not reflect the teams play.

If the Beeches had taken their chances and had a bit more luck in front og goal they could have won this encounter quite easily. However with the team beginning to attract a few new signings better results will hopefully soon follow.

There were some good performances from the team, but some indifferent defending cost them at least a draw.

The signing of Scott Williams (goal keeper) was an added bonus while Chris Wells played in a good partnership with fellow midfielder Jake Hayward Wright who produced a man of the match performance. In the first half Jake rattled the Kingshill bar from 30 yards but was rewarded in the second half with a great strike from 25 yards which gave the Kingshill keeper no chance.

Lee Rhodes was to hit the upright in a spell when many chances were not taken. The end result could have been so much better but for some poor finishing. Credit must go to Kingshill who were to take both of their limited chances while at the other end of the pitch they defend well to keep the score at 2-1.

A note of praise goes to young Johnny Barham who came on to play his first game for the first team. Having come through the youth team he put on a good display.

The introduction of new players is looking bright for the club but teams can only be judged on results and at present the club is at the wrong end of the table

Late withdrawals on a match day are unexceptable so no cry off's please.

Man of the match Jake Hayward Wright

12/12/09 Away v  Avonvale United

Avonvale United  4  The Beeches 1

After a fortnight of no football Beeches travelled to top of the table Avonvale with the determination to perform far better than their previous encounter with the possible champions.

Playing a 4-5-1 System Beeches played particularly well in the first half due mainly down to determination and comittment of the players. Avonvale were restricted to only the occassional shot and there only real effort was well saved by keeper Scott Williams. Beeches were to go ahead when top goal scorer Jody Lawrence cut in from the left and  beat his man, only to be brought down for a penalty. Lawrence picked himself up and duly dispatched the perfect penalty in off the bar giving the Avonvale's keeper no chance.

With Kanne Outram and Darren Hendon putting in good shifts in the middle of the park and the back four of Wells, Warriner, Risby & Cuss looking solid Beeches at half time were to lead 1-0

Beeches started the second half well and could have made it 2-0 when a poor clearance fell to Lawrence out wide. With the home keeper out of his area any strike on goal would have made it 2-0 but the return strike from Lawrence just narrowly missed.

The next few minutes saw old habits kick in and posession gifted to Avonvale who slowly began to control the midfield. With The Beeches players failing to track back and sloppy marking appearing all over the field the good work of the first half was to soon evaporate.

Avonvale equalized when a good cross was misjudged by a Beeches defender allowing theid ever alert striker to nip in between Warriner and Risby to score

The secong goal however was clearly an off side goal and a simple finish giving Williams no chance . Avonvale went onto to score two more goals

The disappointing thing was that Avonvale had no more posession in the second period than the first and again Beeches ran out of energy and passion to take the game right through to the ninety minutes.

With relegation looming, greater belief will be needed in these coming months if results are to change for the better

It was nice to see the return of Jamie Want who has been out injured for some time

Men of the match: Kanne Outram & Darren Hendon

30th January 2010

Senior charities    The Beeches 3 Oakridge 5

Before the kick off a minutes silence was taken for the clubs ex-Chairman Pete Stephens who sadly passed away the night before the match. Pete had suffered a heart attacking during the week after watching his beloved Swindon Town beat Leeds United. Pete was a great person and will be missed by all the club members past and present who knew him.

Having not kicked a ball for seven weeks it was always going to be difficult having to go straight into a cup tie. Beeches started really well and pressed hard for the opening goal. The first goal came after 15 minutes when a long clearance up field saw experienced defender Mark Warriner miss judge the bounce. This allowed the young Theo Stubbs to race clear and beat the advancing Williams in the home goal.

Beeches continued to press but defenders instead of concentrating on their defensive duties seemed intent in joining in attacks at will. This caused the defence to get caught on several occasions on one on ones. Oakridge second goal again came on the break and with time and space a shot from the egde of the box deflected past Williams.

The Beeches scored to make it 2-1 when Jake Hayward Wright volleyed home from 15 yards. During the match Beeches were to strike the wood work four times through Lawrence, Hayward Wright and King.

Oakridge made it 3-1 when Brian Couling scored direct from a free kick. His strike being misjudged by keeper Williams.

The second half was much the same with Oakridge dangerous on the counter attack. And they soon made it 4-1.

With the introduction of new signing Chris Haynes the Beeches front line looked more potent and Haynes made his mark with a well taken goal. He then got brought down for a penalty and from the penalty spot Jody Lawrence scored easily.

At 4-3 it was game on and Beeches went close to leveling. However again sloppy defending resulted in another goal for Oakridge. There scorers being Samuel Clark, Andrew Jones and another Theo Stubbs effort which made the cup tie safe. Beeches must learn that winning does not come easily and a more defensive attitude must be adopted to steem the flow of goals being conceded

Stratton United 1 The Beeches 4

Playing against several of last years players that are now with Stratton United the lads produced an almost faultless display and earned the team three valuable points.

Beeches started well and with the back four of Wells, Warriner, King and O'Malley dominating possession this enabled Beeches midfield to dictate the pattern of play. In particular Eagles and Hayward Wright in the centre of the park proving far too strong for the Stratton boys who lacked any desire to compete.

How Beeches never scored in the first period was down to some good goal keeping and some poor finishing. Lawrence and Haynes going close several times. Several corners were scrambled clear by the over worked Stratton back four where Mutlow and Fields struggled to hold a rampant front line.

However against the run of play Stratton took the lead via the penalty spot. When Smith fell over the out stretched tackle of O'Malley. Mutlow struck home the spot kick in off the upright. Chris Robinson in goal for the missing Williams was in great form commanding his penalty area through out the match.

The second half was much the same with Beeches well on top but the only difference was they were about to take their chances. On at half time sub Daniel Skudlarz was to strike and make the score 1-1. A great through ball from skipper King found the run of Skudlarz who calmly lobbed the stranded Stratton keeper. A great move down the right wing saw Outram cross to the far post and find the ever green Lawrence arriving on time to score from 10 yards.

2-1 soon became 3-1 this time new signing Chris Haynes getting in on the act and drilling his shot high into the Stratton's goal finding the top corner. Chris Wells opened his account for the season when heading home direct from a corner kick.

This performance was long over due and hopefully one the team can build on

21/02/10  The Beeches 6  CHQ United  1

This match was a bottom of the table clash and was considered a six pointer as it was a match between two of the bottom four sides.

The Beeches who have been in good form of late continued where they had left off and from the first minute looked well in control of the match. Within ten minutes they were two nil up. Chris Robinson in the centre of the park was finding his forward with constant ease and it was from a raking 60 yard pass that he found striker Daniel Skudlarz. The striker taking the ball in one movement and dispatching it into the far corner of the net from a tight angle.

Continued pressure saw Chris Haynes go close before Jody Lawrence made it 2-0. Good work down the left wing saw Lawrence in on goal, his first effort was blocked on the goal line and from the rebound he managed to scramble the ball home between the defender, keeper and post.

The Beeches then were caught out from a set piece. Direct from a corner a CHQ player was left unmarked and the ball was headed home from 7 yards out giving keepers William no chance.

The difference in previous weeks Beeches may have given the opposition a few more chances but instead immediately after conceding the pressure was put back on the CHQ defence. The third goal came just before half time when Daniel Skudlarz  scored from close range with a header.

The second half was much the same but CHQ did have two good chances through Beeches not tracking back and giving away the centre of the park because of midfielders pushing forward too much. Andy Eaton should have scored but he found Williams in good form.

Jody Lawrence completed his hat-trick when first he scored at the far post with a simple tap in and the third after sub Graham Robinson had been brought down for a penalty.

Several chances went begging until Kanne Outram completed the scoring when being put clean through from the left wing.

27/02/10  Poulton 0 The Beeches 4

Poultons poor run continued against an inform Beeches who could have doubled the score line but for several missed chances. Lee Rhodes opened the scoring after only two minutes and although Beeches had most of the play the score remained at 1-0 at half time.

Chris Haynes made it 2-0 early on in the second half and Darren Hendon scored a cracker to make it 3-0 before Jody lawrence completed the scoring from the penalty spot making it a good day for an improving Beeches outfit who are now begining to play with confidence and belief

06/03/10  The Beeches 1 Oaksey 0

After losing 6-2 earlier in the season to Oaksey this result put into context how much The Beeches have improved. Both teams tried to play good football through out this contest and although the score line read 1-0 at full time it was clear that the home side should have won more comfortably.

Oaksey best chance of the game came in the opening minute but Chris Robinson  now fast becoming an inspirational figure in goal produced a good one on one save. Almost immediateley Beeches struck what was to be the winner. In the fourth minute experienced central defender Mark Warriner struck the inch perfect pass from 60 yards, finding the willing run of Daniel Skudlarz, the striker cooly found the deftest of chips to beat the on rushing Oaksey custodian.

The Beeches went onto control the match and create a number of chances but failed to convert them. In the end the result was a comfortable 1-0 win from the fast improving Beeches team who are now playing not only with belief but also with ability in abundance

The match was excellently refereed by Andy Beard who came out of retirement to help the league out who at present have a major shortage of referees

Man of the match : Darren Hendon

13/03/10   The Beeches 6  Tetbury Town A  2

Again another good performance from a rampant Beeches team. Tetbury Town had the previous week won through to the Minor County cup final so their confidence was sky high. What they did not expect was a performance that could have produced a much bigger score line.

Graham Robinson who has recently rejoined the club from Fairford Town was  in sparkling form the weekend before when The Beeches Res team beat Minety. He again contiuned in good goal scoring form with a well taken hat-trick.

Beeches started well with Beeches wide men Lawrence and Rhodes giving both there full backs trouble. Lawrence cutting inside and grazing the upright. The opening goal came inside 10 minutes when Robinson found time inside the penalty area and struck his shot from 15 yards high into the roof of the Tetbury Town net.

Beeches continued to attack but full credit to Tetbury they worked there socks off and produced the equaliser with a great shot from their left winger going in off the upright. At the other end Beeches corners were mounting up and with Lawrence finding central defender Warriner's head resulting with the ball being scrambled away.

Tetbury took the lead when a good move again down their left wing saw the winger cross for the striker to smash home giving Robinson no chance

2-1 down at half time

The second half was to see a half totally dominated by the home side with chances coming at regular intervals. Graham Robinson made it 2-2 when he cooly drew the keeper before scoring. His hatrick came when he latched onto a through ball instead of lobbing the keeper he rounded one defender turn inside another and placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner with his left peg.

Beeches were now rampant and Robinson then turned provider. Picking the ball up out wide he turned inside and crossed to the near post finding the late run of Lee Rhodes who headed home from 8 yards.

Mike Eagles then got in on the act and scored from a corner, after an effort was cleared off the line Eagles headed home, in off the upright

Kanne Outram completed the scoring when he fired home from close range to complete a good afternoon

20/03/10  Bibury 2 The Beeches 1  ( Skudlarz )

27/03/10 The Beeches 0 Bibury 0

As like the game the weekend before Beeches played really well and did not get their just rewards. Bibury who are challenging for the title this season can be well pleased with the 4 points they have taken out of these two difficult matches

The first half Beeches had most of possesion and should have lead by half time. Referee Dave Wakefield missing a clear cut penalty after Skudlarz had been up ended. Lawrence and Outram combined well to set up Robinson but he couldnt quite find the finish the move warranted

The second half was much the same but the game was begining to get stretched with chances for both sides being missed. Bibury had a great chance to score with a one on one but the brilliant Robinson in the home goal not only saved well but in doing so he put his shoulder out. Being the man he is he soon put it back into place and carried on.

Darren Hendon up from the back could and should have secured all three points when he found himself with time and space to score what would have been the winner. Inside the box with an empty net gapping he failed to keep his header below the bar resulting in the game finishing 0-0

03/04/10  Oakridge  2  The Beeches  5

What the Beeches are doing better now is learning that defending brings results while earlier in the season too many players were not prepared to work hard enough to secure a result.

The score line was perhaps a bit harsh but shows how a well organised team can continue to get results. Late changes saw Stinky Stephens come in for his first, 1st team game of the season, having played out all season he took over in goal from Chris Robinson allowing Robbo to move into the centre of midfield.

After a good down pour before the start of the game the ground was to play heavy, making good passing very difficult. A young Oakridge attack always looked good on the break because of there pace, but Wells, Hendon, King & O'Malley restricted them to just half chances.

Jake Wright was to open the scoring when he saw Beard in the home goal off his line and from 50 yards his driven lob could only find the keepers finger tips which were not enough to stop the great finish. Chris Robinson then found the run of striker Chris Haynes who in previous weeks had struggled with a niggling hamstring injury. Haynes brilliantly found the bottom left hand corner of the net to make it 2-0 from just inside the box.

The game was beginning to get stretched and both teams defences were making last ditched interceptions. For Oakridge Stubbs on the right was causing problems coming inside while on the Beeches left Lawrence had the beating of his man.

It was Theo Stubbs who was to make the score line 2-1 coming in off the flank, timing his run to perfection and outstripping the high line that The Beeches back four had adopted to run on and beat keeper Stephens.

2-1 at half time

The second half Oakridge started well and pressed hard for long periods but The Beeches back four had got wise to the Oakridge movement and with Stephens also in fine form the back door seemed well and truly shut.

On the break Lawrence and Haynes always loooked dangerous but it was the class of Robinson who unlocked the door. Following a great run from the centre of the park he broke free and sent a 25 yard shot hurtling towards goal. With his shot just going wide the ever alert Haynes produced a great headed finish diverting the shot into the top corner to make it 3-1.

Oakridge were then begging to lose there shape and getting caught on the break after super sub Nick Baker (player manger) was forced to enter the fray after Paul Horton had gone off with ankle ligaments damage.

Baker was linking well and Jake Wright was pushing forward at will and he was to benefit first with a good finish when clean through and he completed his hat-trick with a little help from keeper Beard when he chipped him.

Credit to Oakridge who now with a man a less, sent off for a high, late and dangerous challenge they were rewarded with a well taken goal from Edmunds

The two teams will again meet this coming weekend at Kingshill stadium.

The Beeches men of the match: hat-trick hero Wright, Hendon & the improving O'Malley who never put a foot wrong

10/04/10  The Beeches 7 Oakridge 2

Another very impressive performance by The Beeches who this week went two goals better making there goal average which was minus 15 some weeks ago look more impressive.

The game was played in good spirit with both teams wanting to play football with the end product being plenty of goal mouth action and goals. As early as the fifth minutes Oakridge opened the scoring but within minutes Beeches had equalised with good sharp passing between Skudlarz and Eagles with the later setting up Graham Robinson to score from 10 yards.

This set the standard for much of the first half with Beeches playing the better football which lead to them scoring another four goals before the interval. Further goals coming from Hendon, Skudlarz and a Chris Haynes brace. Oakridge did manage to score again from the penalty spot just before the interval to make the half time score line 5-2

The second half went much the same as the first with Beeches getting the upper hand with Robinson and Eagles adding to the teams total

Man of ther match : Daniel Skudlarz and good performances from Hendon, Outram and Eagles deserving extra mentions

Still awaiting managers Report

22/04/10  Ashton Keynes 1  The Beeches 2 ( K.Outram, D.Skudlarz )

With a few players not available defender Mark Warriner took over in goal and young defender Pete Sykes came in for second first team appearance of the season after being man of the match at the weekend on his debut.

The Beeches started really well and were to dominate the game through out with Ashton only looking good on the occassional break. In fact Mark Warriner apart from conceding a goal never had a shot to save in the whole of the ninety minutes thanks to the strong back four of Wells, King, Sykes & O'Malley.

With Kanne Outram and Darren Hendon winning the battles in the middle of the park and with the pace of Lawrence on one wing and the gyle of Skudlarz on the other they provided the ammunition for the lively Robinson & Haynes up front.

The opening goal came from a great strike from 25 yards from Kanne Outram finding the bottom left hand corner of the Ashton net. In between times several corners and raids especially down the right from Lawrence saw the ball scrampled away. It was just the final pass that eluded an easier chance being created. Outam nearly made it 2-0 when his curling effort from distance produced a great save.

A deserved second goal came after some brilliant interplay involving Skudlarz, Haynes and Robinson set up Skudlarz to make it it 2-0

Ashton were to score when a neatly lifted cross over the defence saw Andrews nip in smartly to head over the advancing Warriner

Half time score 2-1

This was to remain the final score though Beeches dominated the second half  without really testing the keeper enough. Desperate defending by the home team prevented the score line being increased while Robinson and Haynes had good but difficult one on one chances to increase the lead.

Again Lawrence was tormenting his man and beating the full back at will but his crosses were either scrampled away to safty or intercepted by good defending.

Both subs were introduced Charlie Ingahm & Billy Breen and Breen almost scored on his full debut after a good cross from the right saw him fire over. Hendon also saw his volley from close range fall into the arms of the keeper

In the end the good run of results has produced a real confidence in the Beeches play and who ever has had to step into the side has performed well

The Beeches man of the match : Although the whole team performed well Kanne Outram just shaded the man of the match award

24/04/10    CHQ United 4 The Beeches 6

Still awaiting mangers report :

1/05/10   The Beeches 2 Stratton United 1

This was a local Derby which again showed how much The Beeches team has improved. They not only completed the double over United but proved they had strenght in depth with regulars Robinson, Hendon, Eagles & Wright all missing.

Stratton how-ever did make a game of it and there effort was much better than the previous encounter although striker Dan Smith again had to plough a lone furrow up front and never troubled an inform back line which this week included Pete Sykes who again shone with his touch, control and reading of the game.

The past three matches central defender Mark Warriner has kept goal because of the shortage of central midfield players & has done exceptional well. This allowed the universal Chris Robinson to again partner Kanne Outram in the middle of the park.

The Beeches were slow into there normal rythum and it was a good break from Hester from the central midfield area that opened the scoring. As he carried the ball beyond the back four a struck a good shot giving Warriner little or no chance.

This seemed to spur Beeches on and they were begining to make chances causing the under pressure defence of Stratton to get stretched to breaking point. It was how-ever an effort from Outram that made it 1-1. A strike from 25 yards that should have been dealt with by Derbyshire.

The effort although well hit should have been saved, but the six foot frame of Derbyshire was slow getting down and was beaten by a low drive down at the foot of his left hand post.

The Beeches were now well on top but could not convert the many half chances that were coming their way.

Half Time 1-1

The second half Beeches made an early substitution at half time which seemed to unsettle there start to the second period. While Stratton came out with abit more drive and determination. And for 20 minutes of the second period Stratton huffed and they puffed but with no real threat up front they could not  trouble The Beeches back line who comfortably dealt with everything Stratton could muster.

The Beeches thought they had taken the lead after central defender Simon King struck a sweat shot into the back of the Stratton net from a corner. After a brief delay the goal was ruled out by referee Wallace who's only fault on the day was the over delayed decisions making the players frustrated.

Having this goal ruled out seemed to kick start The Beeches again and Lawrence broke through and fired against the keeper at his near post.

The Beeches were now breaking through as Stratton defenders pushed forward and the winning goal came from the man of match Chris Haynes when a good raid down the right flank found Haynes to score with a great strike past the advancing Derbyshire.

At the other end Stratton did have a glorious chance to score but a close range header was brilliant saved by Warriner.

In the end this game was just shaded by The Beeches who showed more adventure in attack and were rewarded with another three points

06/05/10   The Beeches 4 Real Fairford 0  ( Haynes 2,  Lawrence, Tapp )

The Beeches finished the season on a high with a comfortable win leaving them in third place in the league table. This is quite remarkable as they were one from bottom at Christmas.

Although Real could only start the game with ten men they played really well for the first half but Beeches to be fair were dominate through out creating many chances. Chris Haynes opened the scoring with another quality finish. He was partnered up front by Des Tapp who nearly made it 2-0 when he headed over from close range.

Mark Warriner again playing in goal had full control of his back four of Wells, Hendon, King & O'Malley. With Lawrence again in fine form with some brilliant wing play it was always going to be a long night for the Real team

1-0 half time

The second half when Real were back to 11 men Beeches played even better creating chance after chance and it was again Haynes who made it 2-0. With Chris Robinson now pulling the strings in midfield the third quickly followed to make it 3-0. When Jody Lawrence popped up at the back post to finish off a great move and cross from the right

Des Tapp was finally rewarded when he latched onto a through ball and made sure with a sweet left foot finish. Chris Robinson then beat 6 men before firing narrowly wide. Also Lawrence cut inside and just missed with a curling shot.

Robinson then struck the post with a 25 yard drive and constant pressure could have produced even more goals.

In the end a great win & great finish to the season
