The Beeches travelled to there name sake ground the Beeches at Charlton Kings for there third round cup tie against league leaders in Cheltenham Div 4 Charlton Rovers Rovers who have only lost one match all season so it was going to always be a tricky tie

The local estate pitches at the Beeches are not in the best of condition making good football almost impossible

Beeches however started really well and last years top scorer Matty Walters oponed the scoring after 5 minutes with a volley close in from 5 yards

Charlton Rovers equalised with a lucky header from a corner and this spurred them on to press home there home advantage and they took the lead to make it 2-1

With time running out new signing for the Beeches Ian McSherry was to equalise with a strong effort from outside the penalty box although the keeper got a strong hand he couldn't stop McSherry's effort taking the match into a penalty shoot our at 2-2 and with no extra time

19th November   The Beeches 3 Siddington 2

The Beeches continued their form from the week before with an end to end thriller against neighbours Siddington

The opening goal came after Striker Nathan Brunton was put clean through on goal after latching onto a long through ball from Defender Dan Warriner, bearing down on goal he unselfishly played the ball to strike partner Matthew Walters who had the simple task of placing the ball into the empty

Siddington responded well and there top marksman Dennis King found space and time on the edge of the box and buried the ball past Heaven giving the keeper little chance finding the bottom corner to make it 1-1

After the break Walters last seasons top scorer found the net with a fantastic strike curling the ball home with a shot from the edge of the box, finding the top right hand corner of Siddington's net, giving the home team a 2-1 lead

After some play in the middle of the park the ball broke to Walters who completed his hat-trick in style with a cool, calm finish a good striker has

However Siddington were not quite finished  and gave it one more push and from a tackle from Warriner they were awarded a penalty and a life line through King who scored his second of the match

The last 5 minutes was nail biting stuff  but The Beeches managed to hold out for a narrrow victory and more important three well earned points well

Cup 2nd Round

Ashton Keynes 2 The Beeches 6

The Beeches bounced back in style with a 6-2 win over Ashton Keynes , after failing to hit the net in there last two games they finally found the rhythm they were looking for when new signing Nathan Brunton hit the net four times in this fixture

The first goal came from the left hand side with a counter attack play leaving Brunton clean through on goal and squeezing the ball home with it just crossing the line before Mitchell Stone would stole the goal with a tap in effort. Ashton equalised not long after with striker Alex Rudd finding pace in the box and placing the ball into the bottom corner

Half time came and the score was level 1-1 but Nathan Brunton soon changed that by hitting another two goals past the Ashton keeper completing his hat-trick on debut. Winger Joe Stratford soon found himself on the score sheet when the ball dropped to him on the edge of the box from a failed corner clearance from Ashton he smashed it towards the keeper taking a deflection and wrong footing the keeper to make it 4-0

The goal of the match came from Stratford when he picked up the ball inside his own half and travelled down the wing in style outpacing and muscling off 2 defenders until he found himself outside the box, he opened his body and with a fantastic right curling shot found the top right hand corner making the score 5-1

Alex Rudd found his second when a long ball found him clean through before slotting home

Brunton made his name and a massive impact on his Beeches debut scoring his fourth when defender Dan Fragnoli headed the ball across the Ashton goal mouth from a corner and found Brunton unmarked to head home making the final score 6-2 and in doing so booked a semi final spot

5th November   THE BEECHES 0 ASHTON KEYNES 2

Ashton Keynes inflicted back to back defeats on league leaders  The Beeches who had lost last week to Poulton

The Beeches for reasons the management team will need to sort were never really at there game and Ashton started well creating early chances and nearly opened the scoring through a powerful header which hit the bar from Barnaby Chadwick

The return of Alex Rudd the experienced striker made a big difference for Ashton as he looked dangerous and it was Rudd who opened the scoring in the 29th minute firing home from eight yards

The game remained 1-0 at half time thanks to Ashton keeper Ben Chadwick making two great saves

Beeches began to see a lot more of the football and some stout defending by Beeches old boys Ben Mutlow and Chris Robinson and there other team mates kept Beeches chances down

29th October    THE BEECHES 0 POULTON 1

The Beeches suffered there first defeat of the season in a match they should never have lost with a couple of bad calls costing them dearly

The Beeches had to reshuffle after only ten minutes when Ref allowed a serious high and late tackle to go unpunished when Adam Mansell  was left with no chance of carrying on having to leave the field through injury, the tackle was so high it was a Red card that the referee ignored

The Beeches came close on numerous occasions to opening the scoring in the first half but couldn't quite convert there chances. Poulton who did look threatening on the attack took the lead through a great strike from the edge of the box after a poor corner clearance saw striker Andrews score what was to be the winner

Credit to Poulton they were to defend for there lives in the second half and hardly attacked at all, same credit also goes to The Beeches who tried in vain to equalise and keep there 1005 record in tact

The other major incident not mentioned in the match report in the standard was a perfectly well taken goal by King, who's effort should have stood but for the linesman flag of Poluton's player, clearly the striker came from an onside position to score out muscling Poulton centre back before rounding the keeper to score

These incidents are seen week in week out on the telly and continue to cost team points but that is football
